The Bachelor of Electrochemical Engineering prepares students to research, analyze, practice electrochemistry as a field that transforms chemical energy to electrical energy. Some topics involve energy storage, generating more electricity from the same source, corrosion and how to avoid it. Electrochemical technologies, concepts and topics are champions of new processes to reduce carbon emissions and have cleaner energy sources. This field continues to grow due to the need for new “green” initiatives like the distribution of energy, combining heat and power, micro-generation, load balancing for power grids, low carbon manufacturing processes and solar power. Electrochemical processes are often times found in the new era of the car industry as many electric cars use electrochemical reactions with batteries and supercapacitors. As we continue to move towards a better future by recycling waste, removing contaminants, manufacturing materials in a cleaner way and water sterilization, the field of electrochemical engineering will continue to lead the way with new solutions.
