Atlantic International University (AIU) is proud to share the inspiring story of Ricles Thomas, a doctoral student who has successfully applied the knowledge gained through his studies to make a significant impact in his professional environment at Compassion International.
In his role at Compassion International, Ricles is responsible for completing a Personal Development Plan (PDP) each fiscal year, outlining goals for growth. Going beyond the routine task, Ricles used his AIU education to drive deeper conversations on leadership within his team. Specifically, he introduced concepts of emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness, transforming not only his own leadership style but that of his colleagues.
While reviewing the leadership approach of their senior manager, Ricles and his team analyzed key areas for improvement, using principles of leadership they had learned. His insights sparked meaningful discussions about emotional behavior, intellectual leadership, and how these principles can drive organizational success. His colleagues, recognizing the value of these lessons, have repeatedly requested that Ricles share more knowledge from his AIU studies, demonstrating the hunger for continuous learning in the workplace.
“I’ve noticed a significant transformation in my behavior, my level of engagement at work, and other aspects of my life since starting my doctoral journey at AIU,” Ricles shared. “While my colleagues may not receive formal certificates for what I share, their primary goal is to benefit from the knowledge.”
